Terms of service – Girl Friday and Celebrancy

BOOKING: If the date and venue for your requirements have been confirmed as available, you should return the contractual booking form and your 50% initial payment*

INITIAL PAYMENT: 50% payment* is required with the return of the booking form. Your date will be held for 10 days from the day the booking form is sent to you to enable payment to be made. Your date will not be secured beyond 10 days unless the initial payment has been paid

CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT: If your booking form has been returned but no initial 50% payment* has been made there is no contractual agreement for me to create and deliver your ceremony or to continue to hold your date for either service

BALANCE OF PAYMENT: The balance is due 28 days before the date on which Girl Friday is required or your ceremony is taking place. If the date is less than 28 days away, full and final payment will be required within 7 days of the booking being accepted

CANCELLATION: Unless there are extenuating circumstances, should you wish to cancel after the initial 14 day period and prior to 28 days before the event all, or part of, the 50% initial payment* will be charged.  If the ceremony is cancelled with less than 28 days to the event, the full fee will apply

PLEASE NOTE: When a ceremony is cancelled I will usually retain a pro-rata payment for work already undertaken and in recognition that other bookings may have been turned down whilst protecting your date. The amount of the deposit retained will depend on how far through the ceremony creation process we are

POSTPONEMENT: Any postponement of the event will be honoured providing there is availability to do so. In this event, you should discuss dates with me to ensure I can honour your request, otherwise the above cancellation fees will apply. Postponement beyond a 12 month period may incur a small additional charge to reflect price increases

PHOTOGRAPHS: This contractual booking form serves as release for any photograph that includes me to be used in print or electronically by me for promotional purposes e.g. a photograph of me with the couple, but only after the publication of wedding photos by the couple themselves.

RESTRICTIONS: The rules and regulations of your venue will always be followed so please ensure you have checked out any ‘unusual requests’ with them before asking me to carry them out. Unfortunately, the Girl Friday service is not able to undertake child or pet care.

FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM: Photographs of the couple, their family and their guests will only be posted by me on Facebook, Instagram or other social media platforms if permission to do so is given

LEGAL: You are aware a celebrant-led ceremony has no legal status in England. If you require a legal registration of your marriage this must be organised by you through a Register Office

ACCREDITATION: I am a member of The Fellowship of Independent Celebrants (FOIC) and have undertaken their training

INSURANCE: For my celebrancy work, I have public and products liability insurance for £5,000,000 and professional indemnity insurance for £1,000,000 with Hiscox Insurance Company Limited

YOUR RIGHTS: It is my responsibility to supply you with services as contracted. If you have any concerns that I have not met my legal obligations please contact me

COPYRIGHT: The copyright of your bespoke ceremony is held by me. Any ceremony examples, resources, drafts or final scripts provided may not be shared, copied or passed to any third party without my express written permission.  For my part, I will not share any draft or final script with any third party without your written permission

GDPR: In order to be GDPR compliant I confirm that I will not pass your details and information to any third parties without your express permission. One month after your event any personal information that I hold on you will be deleted except for billing and invoice details which I am required to keep for financial reporting to HMRC

SICKNESS: In the unlikely event that I am not able to deliver your ceremony because of illness or other emergency, I will do my utmost to arrange a replacement celebrant from within the FOIC. Alternatively, I will permit the entire script to be delivered by a family member or friend if preferred. If I am unable to deliver Girl Friday services, a full refund will be given

ADDITIONAL COSTS: Costs for travel to the initial meeting (celebrancy) and the event itself, if within 45 minutes of either Southsea or Chippenham, will be included in the cost. This will be checked at the time of taking a booking. Mileage in excess will be charged at a rate of 45p a mile

If I agree to conduct a ceremony which requires me to stay overnight in another area the hotel will be charged at cost to yourselves. Similarly, if the distance is such as to require a train or flight, this will be charged at cost

Any specific clothing or accessories you require me to wear will be charged at cost to yourselves if not provided by you

Where additional ‘props’ are required such as candles, wine, or sand, they will be supplied by yourselves, or by arrangement supplied by me and charged at cost

For Girl Friday services, I will make reasonable use of my ‘kitbag’ to undertake any tasks required. If usage becomes excessive or items borrowed are damaged or not returned, an additional invoice will be raised which must be paid within 21 days of the event

GIFT CERTIFICATES: For Girl Friday services, the Bride or Groom for whom it was purchased should be directed to these Terms of Service as they will be bound by them as if they had made the booking themselves

*If Girl Friday services are purchased as a gift for someone else, the full fee is payable at the time of booking
